Ways to Wellness: The First Six Years

The Ways to Wellness social prescribing service launched in April 2015, to support people with long term conditions in the west of Newcastle upon Tyne.

What makes our service exceptional is our use of Social Impact Bond (SIB) funding, the use of outcomes payment contracting, the scale of our reach within the eligible population, the comprehensive and long-term service offer, and our integration with general practices (GPs).

Our report, ‘Ways to Wellness: The First Six Years’ explains our approach in more detail, and what we’ve learned since the service was established. It’s also a celebration of our impact over this time, improving health and wellbeing for thousands of people.

The executive summary and our full report can be downloaded below. Our videos tell the story of Ways to Wellness from the perspective of some of the people who have been involved - commissioners, GPs, our link workers and - most importantly - the people we have supported.
