Read our response to the Government’s 10-year health consultation

Ways to Wellness has highlighted the crucial role of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector to the future of health services in England in its formal response to the new Government’s consultation to shape plans over the next 10 years.

In our response we underscore the role VCSE organisations play in enabling improvements in people’s health and wellbeing.

Social prescribing has an important part to play in achieving the government’s ambitions – moving away from a medical model, and towards a holistic, person-centred view of wellbeing. This can be particularly effective if it targets those most in need.

We also make clear that devolved responsibility can enable local solutions that make space for innovation. Linked to that, we must make sure that learning is shared across the system, so successful solutions can be scaled and spread.

Ways to Wellness’ Chief Executive, Sandra Mitchell Phillips, said:

“At Ways to Wellness we are committed to sharing learning from our work, whether at local, regional or national level. So, we were delighted to provide a written response to the government’s consultation on their 10 Year Health Plan for England. We look forward to seeing the final plan, and making our contribution to its success.”
